Thousands of dollars in scholarships and awards were presented to Ray High School graduating seniors last week during the 2016 Scholarship and Awards program held in the GKI Courtyard. A dinner hosted by the Kearny Rotary Club preceded the awards ceremony.
Twenty-four graduates were rewarded for their endeavors at RHS.
Co-Valedictorian Gabrielle Juvera was recognized with the ASU President’s Scholarship worth $10,000 a year for four year; the ASU Leadership Scholarship worth $9,000 a year for four years; the UofA Wildcat Excellence Award worth $9,500 for four years; the NAU Lumberjack Scholarship that includes full tuition for four years; and a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years.
She also was awarded a Cesar Chavez Memorial Scholarship of $1000; Kearny Women’s Club Scholarship of $1,000; Student Council Scholarship of $100; Resolution Copper Scholarship of $3,000; ASARCO Employee Funded Scholarship of $2,000; Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship of $1,010; Chastain Educational Scholarship of $500; SaddleBrooke Community Outreach Scholarship worth $1,500 a year for four years; and CCAB Scholarship of $150.
Co-Valedictorian Savannah Willis was awarded a Grand Canyon University Chancellor Scholarship worth $9,750 a year for four years; CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Copper Area Health Volunteers Scholarship of $1,000; Cesar Chavez Memorial Scholarship of $1,000; Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship of $2,000; Pinal County Federal Credit Union Scholarship of $1,000; Coppernet Systems Academic Award of $500; Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship of $1010; NHS Scholarship of $240 and SaddleBrooke Community Outreach Scholarship worth $1,500 a year for four years.
Salutatorian Ainsley Bull received a EAC Academic/Tuition Scholarship worth $1,900 a year for two years; CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Edward M. and Obdulia M. Feldhake Memorial Scholarship of $700; Rotary Scholarship of $1,000; ASARCO Scholarship of $1,250; Robin Coon Scholarship of $1,000; and SaddleBrooke Community Outreach Scholarship worth $1,500 a year for four years.
Stormee Galka earned a Maryville University Academic Scholarship worth $15,000 a year for four years plus book; Maryville University Athletic Scholarship worth $14,000 a year for four years; Grand Canyon University President’s Scholarship worth $7,750 a year for four years; CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Copper Basin Railroad Scholarship of $500; Elks Scholarship of $350; Carmen Bustamante Memorial Scholarship of $250; Robin Coon Scholarship of $1,000.
Austin Huffman was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Robin Coon Scholarship of $1,000; Rotary Scholarship of $1,000 and an ASARCO Scholarship of $1,250.
Jeron Coleman received a CAC Promise of the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Student Council Scholarship of $200; and a Robin Coon Scholarship of $1,000.
Nepeese Avechuco received recognition from Grand Canyon University with a President’s Scholarship worth $8,500 a year for four years; NAU Lumberjack Scholarship worth full tuition for four years; ASU Dean’s Award worth $6,000 a year for four years; U of A Wildcat Excellence Award of $6,000 a year for four years; and CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Copper Area Health Volunteers Scholarship of $1,000; Kearny Women’s Club Scholarship of $1,000; Student Council Scholarship of $100; Carmen Bustamante Memorial Scholarship of $250; Resolution Copper Scholarship of $3,000; ASARCO Employee funded Scholarship of $2,000; Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship of $2,000; and Native Air Scholarship of $1,000.
Ashley Ortiz was awarded a Grand Canyon University Antelope Scholarship worth $3,750 a year for four years; CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship of full tuition for two years; Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship of $2,000; and the Bert Slater Memorial Scholarship of $500.
Noah Stuart earned a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship for full tuition for four years; ROTC Booster Club Scholarship of $727; John Slater Memorial Scholarship of $500; and Robin Coon Scholarship of $1,000.
Ashlie Bryce was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years; and a The Hair Academy of Safford Scholarship of $1,000.
Tristin Cupples was offered a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years; and was awarded a Copper Basin Railway Scholarship of $500.
Adonis Klockenga was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Taylor Ashby was recognized with a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years; ROTC Booster Club Booster Scholarship of $727; and a Copper Basin Railway Scholarship of $500.
Austin Collings was awarded a Grand Canyon University Antelope Scholarship worth $3,750 a year for four years; and CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Jonathan Wernett received a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Dannell West was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Wyatt Miller received a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Katelyn Ballard also received a Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Adelina Romero was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years; Student Council Scholarship of $100; and the Dave McFee Memorial Scholarship of $500.
Billy Lutz was awarded a CAC Promise for the Future Scholarship worth full tuition for two years.
Brady Bray earned the Copper Basin Railway Scholarship worth $500.
Cody Gotto was awarded the ROTC Booster Club Scholarship $727.
