PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – Central Arizona College recently named Edward Aguirre the 2016 Student Employee of the Year.
Aguirre, who attends classes at the Aravaipa Campus, began taking courses at CAC his sophomore year of high school. He is studying to become a nurse and will transfer into the CAC to NAU concurrent enrollment nursing program this fall to pursue an Associate Degree of Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. His goal is to become a nurse practitioner and create a safe practice where any person, regardless of identity can receive quality health care.
Through his work as an office assistant, Aguirre believes he has developed a strong work ethic and multiple professional skills.
“I am thankful for this award. Students always felt comfortable approaching me with questions or concerns,” stated Aguirre. “I loved helping students and staff, and I enjoyed working under pressure and creating results. I worked collaboratively with the Aravaipa campus dean on multimedia projects, administrative support on College for Kids, and outreach coordinators by speaking with local high school students and facilitating new student orientations.”
Ann Mitchell, Coordinator of Student Employment commented, “Edward Aguirre is a champion for Central Arizona College. We are pleased to present him with this honorable award. The experience he has gained while attending classes and working as a student employee will benefit him throughout his career.”
