The No. 5-ranked Superior baseball team improved its season record to 13 – 4 after a pair of wins last week against San Carlos and Ft. Thomas.

Edgar Galindo hit two triples and drove in four runs in the Panthers’ 12 – 1 victory at San Carlos last Tuesday. Nicolaus Cruz and Jesse Lopez, both juniors, each had two hits in the game. Cruz also had an RBI. AJ Denogean and Austin Navarrette each had a hit and an RBI against Braves’ pitchers.

Superior scored three runs in the first to take an early lead. The Panthers scored a combined nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put the game out of reach for the Braves.

Steven Denogean earned the complete-game win after surrendering an earned run on four hits with six strikeouts. The junior did not walk a batter in his fourth victory of the year.

Cruz did not allow an earned run in the Panthers’ 5 – 1 win at Ft. Thomas last Thursday. He allowed three hits with four walks and fanned nine Apaches’ hitters.

Cruz, Navarrette, and Steven Ybarra each had two hits in the game and accounted for all four of the Panthers’ extra-base hits in the game.

Upcoming schedule:  Apr. 19 vs. Alchesay, Apr. 21 at Pima, Apr. 26 at Hayden, and Apr. 27 vs. Ray. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
