SMHS Softball Throwback Thursday

The fifth-ranked San Manuel softball team extended its winning streak to five games following wins against Walden Grove, Ray, and Catalina. This is the Lady Miners’ second five-game winning streak of the season.

The Lady Miners, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, wore throwback uniforms for their game against Ray last Thursday, a 4 – 3 victory and their second win in three games against the No. 2-ranked Lady Cats this season.

San Manuel pounded out four extra-base hits, including three triples and a double, and saw Dionne Ruiz drive in two runs while Lyana Waddell and Daniela Guerrero had an RBI each in the win. Angela Navarro had two hits in the game, including one of the team’s three triples.

Waddell limited the Lady Cats’ offense, tossing a complete game where she allowed three runs – two earned – on three hits with a walk and five strikeouts. The win was the senior’s ninth of the year with only a lone loss.

Upcoming schedule:  Apr. 6 vs. Thatcher (3:45 p.m.) and Apr. 8 at Desert Christian (4 p.m.).
