The Miners recently competed in two state qualifier track meets. March 17-19 the Miners traveled to the UA to compete at the Willie Williams Track Classic. Obtaining a provisional or automatic marks for State competition were:  Provisional marks in seeded competition were Andrea Castaneda in the 3200m 13:46.85, Patrick Lopez PV 9’6”(12^th place) and 3200m 11:13.27. Obtaining automatic marks  Cita Sweeney in discus 107’08”(4^th place) and  33’2.75”shot put (5^th place).

In the unseeded competition  obtaining a provisional mark boys 4x100m relay(Andrew Gomez, Daniel Zazueta, Patrick Lopez, Jose Damian)5^th place 47.36. The girls 4×100 relay( Angelica Garcia, Alicia Guererro,Andrea Castaneda,Leti Vargas)58.22 4^th place. Alicia Guererro PV 6’0”, Colbey Stratton PV 8’0”. Athletes of the meet were Cita Sweeney and Patrick Lopez.

On March 23, 2016 the Miners hosted four teams  Ray, Santa Cruz Valley, Immaculate Heart, The Gregory School at their March State Qualifier. The girls team took first place ahead of Santa Cruz Valley  and the boys placed 2^nd behind Santa Cruz Valley.

PV: 1^st Alicia Guererro 6’6”, Ezmariah Barragan 5’0”. Long Jump: 4^th Andrea Castaneda 12’09.50”, 6^th Jade Willard 11’07.50”. Triple jump: 1^st Jade Willard(provisional) 28’06.50”, 4^th Angelica Garcia(provisional) 26’08.50”. Shot Put: 1^st Cita Sweeney 32’10.75”,2^nd Mariela Canisales(provisional)27’06.50”, 5^th Elizabeth Gonzalez 25’09”. Discus: 1^st  Cita Sweeney 110’08.50”, 2^nd Stephanie Morris(provisional) 80’0”, 4^th Mariela Canisales 73’03”.

Athletes of the meet were  Jose Damian and Eneida Quintero.The Miners will host their April Qualifier on April 6, 2016.
