The Ray softball team extended its winning streak to eight games after victories against Miami, San Carlos, and Santa Cruz Valley last week. The Lady Cats won five-straight games the previous weekend in the Salt River/Chandler Prep tournament.

Senior Savannah Willis and freshman Tara Lorona combined for four hits, including three doubles, and four RBI to lead the Lady Cats to a 10 – 6 win against Miami last Tuesday.  Sophomore Janae Ruiz also had three hits in the game.

Senior Stormee Galka and freshman Daniella Hinojos combined to pitch seven innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. The duo did not walk a batter and fanned nine. Galka was the starter and picked up her seventh win of the season.

A seven-run seventh propelled the Lady Cats to an 11 – 2 victory at Santa Cruz Valley last Friday.

Willis again paced the offense with two hits, including a homerun, and four RBI, but she wasn’t the lone hitting star. Julie Meza, a freshman, also had two hits and four RBI with one of her hits a triple. Galka had two hits, including a double, which was one of five extra-base hits in the game for the Lady Cats. She also drove in a run.

Galka won her ninth game of the year, giving up only two runs on three hits against the Dust Devils. She struck out seven and for the seventh consecutive game did not walk a batter. Galka has only allowed three walks all season while striking out 64.

Upcoming schedule:  Mar. 29 vs. Am Leadership Academy, Mar. 31 at San Manuel, and Apr. 1 vs. Hayden. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
