Local Soccer Players Receive AIA Postseason Recognition

Soccer players and coaches from area high schools were honored for their performance this season, earning recognition after the Arizona Interscholastic Association recently released its All-Section teams.

The following is a list of players, by school, who were named by the AIA:

POSTON BUTTE

AIA Division III Section III Girls’ Coach of the Year – Keith Johnson.

AIA Division III Section III Girls’ First Team – Vianca Neiswanger (Defender), Ashley Nelson (Forward), and Hannah Bueler (Goalie).

AIA Division III Section III Girls’ Second Team – Lexi Hopkins (Defender).

AIA Division III Section III Girls’ Honorable Mention – Kasey Caberto (Forward), Desariee Gorbea (Midfielder), Marlia Johnson (Midfielder), Madison Kurko (Forward), Taylor Lipscomb (Midfielder), and Halen Stephens (Defender).

AIA Division III Section III Boys’ Honorable Mention – Adrian Alonzo (Midfielder), Cherno Baye (Midfielder), Edgar Mendoza (Midfielder), John Nuno (Defender), David Redondo (Defender), and Moritz Reusch (Forward).

AIA Division II Section III Girls’ Coach of the Year – Abel Corral.

AIA Division II Section III Girls’ First Team – Alyssa Dominguez (Defender), Brooke Baldwin (Midfielder), and Micah Wilson (Midfielder).

AIA Division II Section III Girls’ Second Team – McKay Wright (Defender).

AIA Division II Section III Girls’ Honorable Mention – Hannah Bomgaars (Defender), Krista Cross (Forward), Lindsay Hunt (Midfielder), and Jillian Lawler (Forward).
