Ashley Vargas protects the ball in the season opener against Ray. Alize Valesquez | SMHS
The San Manuel basketball team lost its season opener to Ray on Dec. 1, 40 – 29.
The Lady Miners’ inability to deal with Ray’s full-court press was the difference in the game. Nonetheless, San Manuel head coach Dave Jungbluth was pleased with his team’s effort in the game.
Cita Sweeney scored a team-high nine points in the loss. Enieda Quintero and Desiree Gallard each finished with four points. Angela Navarro and Angelica Garcia added three points each while Lysette Campa, Hanna Riedhead, and Ashley Vargas each scored two points.
