The Central Arizona College (CAC) Student Leadership Organization held a special dinner early last week to honor local veterans. The Ray High School Jr. ROTC attended in their colorful military gear to show their support as well.

Joe Aguilar was the guest speaker; he has been inducted in the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame and served in the US Army and is currently a member of the American Legion Post 48 in San Manuel.

Aguilar served five years in the Army and seven with the Arizona Army National Guard. After his military career he was a deputy for Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and is a 40-year member of the American Legion. A great deal of his legion work has been serving the community. Aguilar also volunteers as a counselor and member of the board of directors of the American Legion Boys State program. He served 8 years as the American Legion National Executive Committeeman for Arizona.

As the attendees enjoyed a well prepared meal and good conversation, a terrific evening was had by all.

The celebration of our Veterans event was well attended and the CAC Student Leadership Organization prepared a thoughtful and compassionate celebration.

Thank you all the people who attended and the hard working Student Leadership for volunteering their time to make special events like this one take place.

And thank you, veterans, for your service.
