San Manuel, Arizona With temperatures reaching 103 degrees, the Miners and eight other cross-country teams competed at the Florence Multi-Meet on Sept. 30.
Andrea Castaneda was the top Miner runner on the girls’ side, placing sixth. Other Miners girls runners included: Yesenia Arcienega (20), Esmerelda Zuniga (23), Rebekah Messing (27), Mariah Dockum (30), and Yasmin Salas (31).
Patrick Lopez was the top boys’ runner for the Miners, finishing in fifth place. Other boys runners were: Carlos Salas (23), Tylo Montes (33), Levi Schifferns (36), and Omar Gallego (38).
Next up for the Miners is the Coolidge Cross-Country Invitational this Saturday.
“We are on the downward side of the season now,” head coach Maria Lopez said in an email to the Miner. “We are working to bring down times readying for Sectionals on Oct. 31.”
