Officials from Superior Schools, Resolution Copper and the Arboretum sign a joint agreement for the JFK Nature Club.
Resolution Copper, Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Superior Unified School District are partnering to extend the Nature Club program agreement for two additional years. Celebrating its ninth year, the Nature Club Program allows John F. Kennedy Elementary School 5th and 6th grade students to learn more about wildlife through recreation, research and conservation opportunities at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The program is collaboration amongst Resolution Copper, Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Superior Unified School District.
“The Superior Unified School District along with JFK Elementary School is grateful for the opportunities provided to our students by Resolution Copper as well as the Boyce Thompson Arboretum,” said Stephen Estatico, Superior Unified School District Superintendent. “This is a great interactive experience that will hopefully instill a lifelong appreciation for our surroundings.”
“When children interact with nature their world changes,” said Boyce Thompson Arboretum Education Director Lacey Pacheco. “As they start to internalize their experiences everything makes sense from today’s math assignment to what they would like to achieve in the future. This is what I love about this program.”
With its inception in 2006, the Nature Club Program is one of Resolution Copper’s longest running community education programs.
“We are proud to support local educational opportunities and are delighted to see the students having fun and learning simultaneously,” Resolution Copper project director Andrew Taplin said.
