And then there were four.
First came Mammoth’s Ore Cart, “Skeleton Crew Graveyard Shift.” It was installed at the Miners Memorial Park on Hwy. 77 in Mammoth.
Many years later the second Ore Cart in the Copper Corridor’s Ore Cart Trail was installed in Winkelman at the junction of Hwy. 77 and Hwy. 177. This one, called “A Penny For Your Thoughts,” was installed in time for Winkelman’s Centennial Celebration.
In January, Oracle’s “Sailcart” which celebrates the history of Oracle’s name, shared with a clipper ship of the same name, was installed in front of the Post Office.
On Saturday, April 25, Superior will become the next realized point on the Ore Cart Trail map as its Cart, designed by artists Sam Lane and Chuck Davison, is installed at the Caboose Park and Superior History Trail. Everyone is invited to the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony which will take place at 1 p.m. The ceremony is hosted by the Superior Historical Society/Bob Jones Museum and the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition and is sponsored by Resolution Copper Company; Evelyn Cooksley in memory of Bud Cooksley; and an anonymous donor from the Legends of Superior Trail (LOST).
The park is located at 834 W. Hwy. 60. It is located on the north side of the highway across from Los Hermanos Restaurant.
