Superior Head Start Happenings – A visit from La Serna

Superior – Curious students met curious animals, as La Serna visited with the children of Superior Head Start for Curious George Day. The children celebrated the day by bringing their favorite stuffed animals to class. There was a classroom parade using musical instruments and stuffed animals, as part of the music and movement activities.

The children practiced several concepts such as asking relevant questions concerning Ms. Betty store business, as well as social emotional skills, healthy decision making and problem solving abilities.

The children interacted with Ms. Betty, throughout her visit. Ms. Betty discussed her role as business owner and her experience working with children prior to owning and operating her own business. The children participated actively in discussions and listened to ideas of others. One child asked Ms. Betty if she sold shampoo.

The Head Start center has an open door policy and the staff are always happy to have parents, grandparents, caregivers, business and community members to spend time volunteering in the classroom. Such visits provide valuable learning experiences. Next month’s focus will be Week of the Young Child activities.
