On Sunday the Community Presbyterian Church in San Manuel was the scene of a “Children’s Worship” which include balloons, gospel magic, songs, skits and clowns. It is all part of a plan by the church to engage children and make the service entertaining for them while teaching them that “God loves them.”
Young kids often get lost or bored during regular church sermons, explained Pastor Jeff Dixon. “We try to make it fun for them and entertain the kids with a religious message,” he said. “We explain Bible passages in a simple way that kids can understand.”
This week’s sermon was “What Are We Thankful For?” When the Pastor asked that question, one young girl stood up and said, “having a family that loves us.”
Pastor Dixon and his daughter Sara dressed up like clowns. They performed a Thanksgiving skit with the kids, sang songs, and everyone including adults had fun.
Pastor Dixon used balloons to make a large banana and two monkeys to teach the kids about sharing and helping others. He tied it into Thanksgiving and cans of food that had been collected by the church and will be distributed to the local community food bank.
The Children’s Worship is held every third Sunday at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The more kids the merrier. The Community Presbyterian Church is located at 801 McNab Pkwy. in San Manuel.
