Copper Basin News
Kearny Elks Lodge #2478 honored Copper Basin area young people at its annual Youth Banquet held recently.
Each academic year the Lodge sponsors a variety of contests and programs involving students from both the Ray and Hayden/Winkelman School Districts.
Students receiving recognition included:
Americanism Contest, Kacy Molar, Ray; Drug Awareness, 3-4 Division Felicity Ramirez, Ray and 5-7 Kacy Molar, Ray.
Hoop Shoot, Myranda Figueroa, who also captured the State Championship in her age division, Anthony Lopez, Amaniz Ochoa, Derek Jegueroa, Brianna Goad and Morales Cruz.
Soccer Shoot, 1st place winners, Derek Figueroa, Kacy Molar and Ashton Kelley; 2nd place Eli Martinez and Chasity Kelley.
Students of the Month are selected each month for academic and school involvement. Hayden High School students recognized this past school year were Aaron Lagunas, Yihanna Marquez, Kyana Garcia, Martha Palafox, Devin Estrada, Laryssa Torres, Karina Serrano and Francisco Borjorquez-Borjorquez.

Students of the Year were Grant Armandariz and Aaron Lagunas.
A recognition plaque was also presented to Ray Schools Administrative Officer/Principal Curt Cook.
The members and officers of the Lodge would like to thank the administration, teachers and especially the parents of both school systems for participating, helping and raising such fine young ladies and gentlemen. Without this help the Lodge would not be able to accomplish the youth programs we do.
