The Mammoth-San Manuel (MSM) Community Schools wrestling season will begin on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. The MSM Community Schools wrestling program is a K-12 wrestling club for students from the areas of Hayden, Oracle, Kearny, Mammoth, and San Manuel. All meets will be held at the Mammoth Elementary gymnasium.
Wrestlers in the program can expect to learn self-discipline, gain confidence and self-reliance, earn respect, develop mentally and physically, and how to work hard.
“The staunch work ethic encountered in the MSM Community Schools wrestling program can be carried over into all aspects of an individual’s life,” San Manuel varsity wrestling coach Daniel Najera said. “Participating in MSM wrestling can teach a young man or woman how to succeed in meeting other challenges of life through sheer determination and hard work.”
The program will also teach wrestlers the importance of good sportsmanship.
“Sportsmanship is an integral part of MSM Wrestling,” Najera said. “Wrestlers are expected to display it at all times.”
There are 6 scheduled meets at Mammoth Elementary. All meets begin at 6:00 p.m. The scheduled dates are Mar. 19, Mar. 26, Apr. 2, Apr. 9, Apr. 16, and Apr. 23.
Parents of wrestlers who are interested in their child joining one of these programs should contact MSM Community Schools Director Lisa Armenta at (520) 385-2337 ext. 1110 or 1111.
