NOMADS 2018
Nine remarkable people from Montana, South Dakota, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Colorado have come together as the NOMADS group working in Kearny for the next three weeks. All of them are Christian workers who give of their time and pay their own way for the privilege of using hammer and saw, paint and nails, to make things better in the world.
Good Shepherd Church in Kearny provides space for the recreational vehicles which they bring with them, and the congregation also provides some meals and pays some (but not all) of the cost of their materials. This is one of several such teams organized by The United Methodist Church to serve in this way. They worship together, work out projects in cooperation with the local congregation, and meet with people to tell about their work.
The Hand Me Up Shop in Kearny will benefit from their labors, as will the United Methodist parsonage, which is being refitted for the tenure of The Rev. Michael Eaton, the new pastor of Good Shepherd Church. The NOMADS have worked on many projects through the years in the towns of the Copper Basin.
