Hayden, Ray and Superior continued their winning streaks this week under the Friday Night Lights.
Hayden Lobos
The Hayden High School football team traveled to take on the Mogollon Mustangs last Friday. The Lobos had a tough first quarter, letting the Mustangs outscore them. The first quarter ended with a score of 16-22. Going into the second quarter the Lobos’ defense shut down the Mustangs from scoring, while Hayden’s offense was able to add 20 points to the board. By halftime the score sat at 36-22.
The third quarter was just as strong for the Lobos’ offense, scoring another 20 points, while the defense gave up 12. In the fourth quarter the Lobos scored 18 points, and gave up 14. The game ended with a Lobo victory, and a final score of 74-48.
Leading the team in touchdowns was Kino Lorona with 4, Tyler Garner with 3, Mario Hong and Ryan Garner each with 2 touchdowns. Leading the team on defense was also Kino Lorona with 12 solo tackles and 9 assists. Mario Hong had 10 solo tackles with 7 assists, Tyler Garner had 5 solo tackles with 2 assists, Javier Ortega had 3 solo tackles with 3 assists.
This Friday, Sept. 19, the Lobos will travel to San Manuel to take on the Miners, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

Ray Bearcats
Last Friday, the Bearcats football team hosted the Valley Union Blue Devils. The Bearcats were coming in off of two wins, one against San Manuel and one against Valley Lutheran.
The boys played a strong game, and once again came out with a close win by only two points. The final score of the game was 36-34.
This Friday, September 19, the Bearcats will host their Homecoming game against Cicero Prep Academy. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Come out and support the Bearcats!
Superior Panthers
Last Friday, the Superior High School football team traveled to take on the Baboquivari Warriors. The Panthers put up a tough fight, and only let the Warriors score one touchdown.
The boys were able to come out with the win and a final score of 48-6.
This is the Panthers’ third consecutive win, including their win over Mayer and Williams.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, the boys will host Fort Thomas. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Come out and support the Panthers football team!

San Manuel Miners
The Miners traveled to take on Desert Heights Prep. It was a tough time on the field for the boys, who struggled to keep the ‘Yotes out of the end zone. The final score of the game was 14-58.
Ivan Flores and Tanner Decker each scored 1 touchdown. Tanner Decker also scored a two-point conversion. Daniel Najera led the team on defense with 6 solo tackles and 2 assists. Ivan Flores had 4 solo tackles and 1 assist.
The Miners will host the Hayden Lobos for their Homecoming game this Friday night, Sept. 19. The game has a scheduled kickoff time of 7 p.m. Be sure to come out and support the Miners!
