The 18th-ranked San Manuel baseball team broke a 7 – 7 tie with four fifth-inning runs and three more in the sixth on its way to a 14 – 8 victory at San Miguel last Thursday.
Louis Chavez went 4-for-4, including a double, and Christian Estrada had two hits with three RBIs to lead the Miners. Saul Quijada, who tripled for one of his two hits, and Benny Laguna (5-for-5, two RBIs) also starred for San Manuel.
Javy Tamayo, who was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs at the plate, threw five innings in relief, fanning 10 Vipers while surrendering three unearned runs (none earned) on only one hit and a walk.
Up next: Apr. 10 vs. Coolidge, Apr. 12 vs. Desert Christian, and Apr. 16 at Santa Rita. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
