The Parish of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior will crown its 2025 Fiesta Queen, Camilla Sandoval, during this years celebration, set for this coming Saturday.

Camilla, a third-grade student at John F. Kennedy Elementary School, was chosen for this special honor and proudly represents her church, school, and family. A well-rounded student, she enjoys playing basketball and softball, where she shows both determination and teamwork. When she isnt on the court or field, she can often be found playing with her friends or drawing animals.

In the classroom, Camilla excels in math, her favorite subject. Her leadership skills and good behavior have already been recognized through her appointment to the JFK Student Council.

Camilla is the daughter of Angel and Sandra Sandoval. She also has a brother, Adam Lucero, and a sister, Lucero Sandoval. At home, she enjoys spending time with her family and her two pet dogs.

As part of the tradition, Camilla and her family worked diligently to raise funds for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Together, they hosted a raffle, pastry bingo, and breakfast, with proceeds supporting the Parish. The Sandoval family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who donated, participated, and supported their fundraising efforts, making Camilas crowning possible. Her father, Angel Sandoval, expressed the familys gratitude, saying they deeply appreciate everyone who helped make it possible for Camila to have this opportunity to serve. “We had no idea how much work goes into running for Fiesta Queen,” he said.

Looking ahead, Camilla is excited to participate in the Fiesta parade and festivities this weekend, where she will proudly wear the traditional princess-like, white Fiesta Queen dress and crown. When asked why she wanted to run for queen, Camila shared simply and sincerely: Because I love my family, my town, and Jesus.”

The tradition of crowning a queen at St. Francis of Assisi remains a cherished way to celebrate faith and community. This year, Camillas selection adds a youthful spark to the festivities, reminding everyone that the future of the Parish is bright and full of promise.
