The 2024-2025 school year is coming to a close at San Manuel PK-12, with graduation on Thursday, May 15. Giving speeches will be the senior class of 2025’s Valedictorian Martin Matthew Madrid Jr. and Salutatorian Angelica Gomez.
Martin is the son of Melissa and Martin Madrid. In high school, he ran track and served as the Student Government Secretary, AP Club President, National Honor Society Secretary and Interact Club Secretary.
He plans to attend Northern Arizona University following graduation. “My plan is to go to NAU for my pre-reps before medical school,” he said.
When asked what he likes most about his school and community, Martin said, “I love my friends and community and the functions.”
He added that growing up in a close-knit rural community has helped him “stay connected and value friends and family.”
Martin is looking forward to going to college and experiencing something new. He hopes to give some inspiration for others to do better.
To underclassmen, he offers the following advice: “Do your work, get good grades for money.”
He wanted to share some special thanks: “A special thanks to my mom, sisters Brianna and Ashley, for helping me through the rough times in life.”
Angelica is the daughter of Maria and Rodolfo Gomez.
She plans to attend University of Arizona and study to become a therapist.
When asked what she liked best about her school and community, Angelica said, “I like the friends I have and how supportive people are.” Growing up here, she said, “made me have a positive mindset and gave me enough courage to do what I truly believe I can.”
She is looking forward to living her life to the fullest once this stage of her life is complete. She would like to give back to this place she calls home, but isn’t sure what. “It made me be where I am today.”
To underclassmen, she offers the following advice: “Have a fun high school experience. It goes faster than you think.”
She added, “Thank you to all the people that made me who I am today.”
For the senior class of 2025, this will mean the first step, in their next step of life. Some will go to college, while some might be going into the military, while others will join the workforce. Their time at San Manuel’s high school may be coming to an end, but they will forever remain as a piece of San Manuel’s history.
Congratulations goes out to the San Manuel class of 2025, you guys made it! A special congratulations goes out to the Valedictorian Martin Matthew Madrid Jr., and salutatorian Angelica Gomez, it is no easy feat to become the top of your class, but you two did it, with hard work and dedication!
