Lucke John Eveland, 76, of Superior, Arizona, went home to rejoin the Lord on July 8, 2020. Lucke was born on Jan. 19, 1944 in Hendrick, Minnesota to John C. Eveland and Louisa (Midtovne) Eveland. He grew up in Miller, South Dakota and Olympia, Washington with siblings, Wilber, Maurice, Cherie, Gloria, Gay, Joy, Jollie, and Merrillee.
In January 1962, Lucke enlisted in the US Navy in Rochester, Washington. He served 4 years as a Helmsman at the Naval Supply Depot aboard the USS Sacramento in Seattle, Washington. While on Active Duty, Lucke served 2 tours in Vietnam. He then transitioned to the Naval reserves and served in Banger, Washington, where he finished out his military career.
Lucke married Joy (Ross) Eveland in October 1976 and gained a stepson, Jace Reuther, and stepdaughters, Carol Sitton and Zodie Williamson. Together they had two children, Mark Eveland and Marcella (Frank) Williams. The family lived in Rochester until moving to Yakima, Washington in 1989.
Lucke retired in May 2003 and joined Joy in Superior, Arizona. He worked as a laborer for the Town of Kearny. He also worked as a guard for Wakenhut Security at Resolution Copper. After a few years, he decided to retire again.
