  Another sign that fall is on its way is when the volleyball nets are pulled out of storage and erected in the gymnasiums at local schools.

  The Copper Corridor is no stranger to this phenomenon. Two teams have started games and the other two schools are soon to follow as the fall season begins.

Ray Lady Bearcats

  The Lady ‘Cats started their volleyball season off at the end of August.

  Their first game was an away game against Dishchii’bikoh. The girls were only able to win one of the games, and suffered a 1-3 loss. Their second game was at Globe, where the Lady ‘Cats claimed a 3-2 win over the Lady Tigers.

  Last week they hosted San Tan Foothills and suffered a  1-3 loss. The girls closed their week out with a home game against Music Mountain, where they claimed a 2-1 win.

  Next week they will host Patagonia Union on Thursday, Sept. 11.

San Manuel Lady Miners

  The Lady Miners opened their season last week with an away game, and two home games.

  They started their week traveling to take on Valley Union, where it was a tough 1-3 loss. They next took on Patagonia Union suffering a 0-3 loss.

  The girls closed out their week with another tough 0-3 loss against Duncan.

  They will host ASDB on Sept. 9, and close out the week with an away game at Fort Thomas.

Hayden Lady Lobos

  Hayden’s season opener was Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Miami. No information on that game was available at press time. They will host the Lady Panthers on Thursday, Sept. 11, and travel to Mogollon on Sept. 12 for a 4:30 p.m. game against the Lady Mustangs. They will host Cicero Prep on Sept. 16.

Superior Lady Panthers

  Superior took on Fort Thomas on Sept. 9 in their season opener. No information on that game was available at press time. They will travel to Hayden to take on the Lady Lobos on Thursday, Sept. 11, and host the Valley Lutheran Flames on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
