The Hayden High School wrestling team traveled to Payson to compete in the Division IV Section III Sectional Tournament. Hayden had eight Lobos wrestling to see if they could punch their ticket for state. The other teams that were wrestling were: ALA Anthem, ALA Mesa, Alchesay, Benjamin Franklin, Blue Ridge, Camp Verde, Coronado, Fountain Hills, Globe, Miami, Payson, Phoenix Christian, San Carlos, Santa Cruz Valley, Seton Catholic Prep, Tempe Prep, and Valley Christian.
After a day full of wrestling, three of the Lobo wrestlers made it into the final rounds.
• Julius Pinkard claimed the Section IV Division III runner up title for the 126 lb. weight class.
• Johnathan Rutter took fourth place in the 106 lb. weight class.
• Benjamin Quesada claimed the fourth place medal for the 285 lb. weight class.
These three Lobos qualified for state and will be headed to the big tournament Feb. 21 at Veterans Memorial Colosseum.
