  Hayden and Ray had big wins this week – both shutting out their opponents. Superior too had a win on the night, close but still in the W column. San Manuel had a tough time of it against perennially tough St. David.

Hayden Lobos

  On Friday, Sept. 6, the Lobos hosted Joseph City. Hayden received the first kick from Joseph City, and were quick to score a touchdown off of the first few plays. Kino Lorona scored the first touchdown, making the game 6-0. Kino scored 2 more touchdowns during the first half of the game. Tyler Garner scored 3 touchdowns also. Mario Hong scored 1 touchdown during the game. Mj Oropeza scored 4 field goals throughout the game.

  The Lobos scored quickly, making the game 46-0 by halftime. The boys continued to keep Joseph City out of the end zone for the remainder of the game, making it a Lobo victory with a final score of 46-0.

  The Lobos will travel to take face off against Mogollon, with a kickoff time scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12. The game will also be available to watch via livestream on NFHSnetwork.com.

Ray Bearcats

  The Bearcats traveled to take on Valley Lutheran last Friday. The boys came out strong, and scored 2 touchdowns and two-point conversions in the first quarter, starting the second quarter with a 16-0 score. By halftime the score sat at 36-0, and the Bearcats didn’t stop.

  The third and fourth quarter both saw two touchdowns being scored. The game ended with a Bearcat victory and a final score of 60-0.

  Jesse James, Jason Day, Samson Martinez, and Chase Chester each had 2 touchdowns for the game. They each had 1 two-point conversion as well. Cyrus Putman also had 1 two-point conversion.

  The Bearcats will host Valley Union on Friday, Sept. 12, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m. It can also be watched via livestream on NFHSnetwork.com

Superior Panthers

  The Panthers football team hosted the Williams Vikings last Friday. It was a tough game, but the Panthers came out ready to play.

  The boys ended up claiming the win for the night, with a final score of 40-34.

  Leading the team in points was Christian Hollenbeck with 3 touchdowns, Adam Sandoval and Antonio Lopez each had 1 touchdown. Ryland Duarte had 2 two-point conversions, Noah Jimenez, Raiden Sommer, and Christian Hollenbeck each had 1 two-point conversion. Leading the team with tackles were Ryland Duarte and Noah Jimenez each had 4 tackles, Andrew Blair and Brandon Ramirez each had 3 tackles, and Raiden Sommer and Adam Sandoval each had 2 tackles.

  The Panthers will travel to take on Baboquivari on Friday, Sept. 12, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

San Manuel Miners

  The Miner football team hosted their third home game of the season last Friday against St. David. The Miners were coming in off of a close loss against Ray.

  The Miners kicked to St. David to start the game. The Tigers were quick to score, but the Miners had a tough time finding their stride. The Tigers played a smart defense and the Miners offense struggled to break past it. By halftime the score sat at 0-43.

  After halftime the boys came out and still were working on finding their flow. Going into the fourth quarter, the score sat at 0-57. It was in the fourth quarter where the boys began to work in unison, eventually scoring a touchdown, and getting some points on the scoreboard.

  The game closed out with a tough loss, and a final score of 6-63.

  The Miners will travel for their first away game on Friday, Sept. 12, against Desert Heights Prep. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
