Lillian Dickson, 81, passed away from natural causes on Sept. 10, 2020, in Tucson.
Lillian is preceded in death by her son, Anthony (Pam) Urrea.
She is survived by Kathy Flores-Valle, Fernando Garibay, Gabriel Garibay and Vivian (Gary) Garibay-Presa.
Lillian was a resident of San Manuel, then Mammoth, for over 30 years. She graduated from San Manuel High School in 1957, and earned her certification as a Medical Assistant. Most of her career was in Social Services. She worked for Pinal County’s Grassroots and WIC programs. Lillian always took her job to the next level, even if it meant working after hours to ensure families had food, clothing and shelter. She also worked as a Home Health Aid for Pima County’s Tuberculosis Clinic and Kelly Home Services, serving her community for over 20 years before retiring in 2007.
Lillian was an avid bingo player. This is where she spent time with her close friends. She won a lot, but spent just as much if not more. Lillian loved her plants. She took pride in the variety of flowers and plants she cultivated in her potted garden. She loved her crafts. She crocheted, made dish towels, baskets and doilies. Most crafts she gave away.
More than these, she loved her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter. They, in turn, loved her and leave these messages in remembrance of her:
She was the nicest sweetest happiest Great Nana I knew – Maia, great-granddaughter
She was very independent, feisty and very hilarious – Brittany, granddaughter
She was very vivacious – Kayla, granddaughter Her life has had a lasting impact that will continue through the love she had for her children and grandchildren. Mom and Nana Lilly, we were blessed to have you in our lives. You will be missed.
Services were held at Evergreen Cemetery, 601 E Ft. Lowell Rd in Tucson, on Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. Padre Gonzalo Villegas of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated.
