In December, the Legends of Superior Trails (LOST) hosted its third annual “Thank You Hike” and luncheon to recognize the sponsors, volunteers, and partners whose support made trail projects and community events possible throughout 2025. The hike served as a moment of appreciation and reflection on the shared commitment to outdoor recreation and stewardship in Superior.
During the event, leadership from the Legends of Superior Trails Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit, announced an exciting new project: in partnership with the Tonto National Forest and with funding from an Arizona State Parks and Trails grant, construction will begin on an official trail through Telegraph Canyon. The work will be completed in segments and will require additional grants to complete. LOST was awarded $120,000 to complete this first phase of important trail construction work. When the trail is complete, it will create a full loop around Picket Post connecting Arnett Canyon to the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
The new trail will provide a safe, sustainable route built to modern standards, improving access while protecting the natural landscape. The project marks a major investment in Superior’s growing trail system and reinforces the community’s reputation as a destination for outdoor recreation.
Those recreating in the area can expect to see trail building crews and volunteers working in the area into the spring.
