Jesus “Lucero” Ross

Jesus “Lucero” Ross was born in Eloy, Arizona June 20, 1919. He went on to build an amazing legacy. With his hard work he sent his deep love as far and bright as a century old star could. Like the setting sun, our beloved pillar of light will set beautifully like the western skies of Arizona’s evenings, to rise as often as our fondness wills.

Jesus started school in Klondike in the Gailuro Mountains, where he would ride his horse to the one-room schoolhouse for his learning. He travelled to and from Arizona to San Lorenzo, Mexico with his family and eventually met his bride, then settled in Dudleyville.

From a gardener at El Conquistador to a smelter supervisor at Hayden where he retired, raising a family, building homes, ranching, being a brother, father, son, uncle, padrino and much much more, “nothing was impossible” as he was wont to say when challenged.

Jesus always had a ready smile that would be followed by playful rascality towards his siblings and family.

The last of his generation and knowing his brothers, sisters, father, mother, and his wife were waiting for him he drew his last breath Oct. 1, 2020 and did not tarry to join them.

Jesus loved all his family – gone before and the ones he leaves behind now. This is temporary and we will all see each other again.

Services for Jesus were held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Griffith Mortuary. He was laid to rest at Florence City Cemetery. Family was assisted by Griffith Mortuary.
