Baseball and softball action this week had San Manuel making the trek north to Lobo Country. On both diamonds, Hayden had the home advantage and sent the Miners home with losses.
On the softball field, the Lady Lobos put themselves on the scoreboard first. The game became tied 5-5 by the bottom of the third inning. Hayden was able to pull ahead 8-7 by the bottom of the fourth. During the fifth inning, the Lady Lobos kept San Manuel off home plate, and were able to create a big score gap with 9 additional runs. The final score of the game was 17-7, making it a Lady Lobo win.
On the baseball field, the game sat in a stalemate until the third inning when the Lobos scored a run. The boys kept the Miners from scoring at the same time adding a few more runs, making it a big 7-0 win.
Superior made the trip south to San Manuel early in the week to face off against the Miners and Lady Miners.
The Lady Panthers started their week traveling to San Manuel. The Lady Miners took the lead in the first inning, and were able to keep it throughout the game. Superior fell behind by 1 run during the first inning, and struggled to gain control of the game. The final score of the game sat at 10-6 in favor of San Manuel.
The Panthers also struggled in their game against San Manuel. The boys were unable to get more than 1 run on the scoreboard. It was a tough loss for the Panthers and a big win for the Miners, with a final score of 11-1.
Superior made the trip south to Kearny to face off against the ‘Cats and Lady ‘Cats.
The Lady Panthers turned it around and came out of the first inning in control of the game. The Lady ‘Cats struggled to get onto the scoreboard, and keep their opponent off of it. The final score of the game was 16-4 Superior win.
On the Ray baseball field, the Panthers scored 4 runs in the first inning, and battled for control throughout the game. The Bearcats fought for dominance, sitting at 5-4 by the top of the third inning. During the fourth and fifth inning the Panthers took control. The game ended with a close 6-10 loss for the ‘Cats.
Hayden Lobos
It was a light time on the field last week for the Lady Lobos. The girls started their week with an away game at Duncan. The Lady Lobos struggled to find their rhythm, and were only able to get 1 run on the board. The final score of the game was a tough 1-16.
The Lobos baseball team started last week off with an away game, traveling to take on Patagonia Union. The boys secured the lead from the first inning, with 2 runs, followed by 5 runs in the second inning. The game closed out with a Lobo victory and a final score of 13-3.
The Lady Lobos played San Simon Monday and the Lobos were on the road to Superior Tuesday. Results for both games were unavailable at press time.
Ray Bearcats
The Lady ‘Cats started last week off with a home game, hosting Coolidge. The first inning saw Coolidge score 6 runs, while the girls were only able to score 2. The Lady ‘Cats had a rough time keeping Coolidge off the bases. The game ended with a final score of 3-21.
The Bearcats Baseball team also had a tough time on the field last week against the Bears. The Bearcats took control during the first inning, sitting at 4-1, but were unable to hold that lead. The game ended with a 7-19 loss.
Ray headed to Desert Heights Prep Monday. Results were not available at press time.
San Manuel Miners
The Miners were on the road to St. Johns on Monday and hosted Valley Lutheran on Tuesday. Results from those games were unavailable at press time.
Superior Panthers
Superior hosted Hayden on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
