On Saturday, July 19, the 2nd Annual 3v3 Basketball Tournament was held at Hayden High School’s gym. The tournament was to benefit the 2025-2026 Hayden High basketball and cheer teams.
“This being our second annual 3v3, our expectations were exceeded,” commented Dennis Weber. “This year was an awesome turnout, having teams from Globe, San Carlos, Tucson, Bylas, and the local area.”
There were 13 teams that joined the tournament: Buzzballs, Sambo Elite, Team Uncs, Skooden, Team Handicaps, The Joeys, Team Gomez, They Hoop, G Town Ballers, Black Beauty’s, Rip City, Team Gomez 2.0, and The Pumas. Some of the teams were composed of current high school basketball players, middle school players, and recently graduated Lobos. Team Handicaps went undefeated during the tournament, claiming the tournament win.
The Second Annual 3v3 Basketball Tournament wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Hayden-Winkleman Unified School District for allowing the use of the facilities; Hayden’s boys basketball coach Ramon Gonzales for assisting and making sure the tournament ran smoothly; Winkleman Fire Department for being on standby in case of any injury and also donations of drinking water; DJ Fab for supplying the music; the Hayden High cheer team and parents for having an amazing concession stand, and cheer coach Tivon Weber for managing the concession stand; and lastly, Winkleman’s Fire Chief Dennis Weber for running the tournament and promoting it the event, and making it run smoothly.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the third annual tournament in July of 2026!
