On Tuesday, May 27, Hayden High School hosted its athletic awards and banquet in the high school lobby.
The athletes sat at a long table at the front of the lobby, with coaches and faculty at another long table off to the side, then family and supportive community seated behind the athletes.
Tyler Garner started the evening with the Pledge of Allegiance. Kino Lorona gave the opening remarks, and JJ Manriquez said a prayer. Afterwards everyone prepared to make their way to get some food, before the presentations would start.
Joe Grossi of Jostens was there with the football team’s one of a kind state championship rings. The rings have a removable top that can be worn like a pendant, the ring then reveals an engraving of the Lobo football field.
The presentations and awards started with volleyball, fall and winter spiritline, boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling, softball, baseball, and then football closing out the night with the presentation of their 2024 football state championship rings. They also presented the senior football players their jerseys framed.
Hayden’s athletic programs thrive due to the community’s undying support, and the coaches and faculty that dedicate their time to teaching the youth how to be students and athletes.
Congratulations once more to the two-time 2024 Hayden football state champions, and the three-time 2025 Hayden baseball state champions! We’ll see you Lobos on the courts and fields next year!
Open gym at the high school will begin Monday, June 2, starting at 9 a.m. The basketball team will also be competing in some games over the summer; be sure to look for more information on Hayden High School’s social media pages.
