Guillermo ‘Billy’ Romero
Guillermo “Billy” Romero, 82, answered the “call from the man upstairs” on March 27, 2025.
Guillermo is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yolanda; daughter, Liana; son, Martin (Lori); grandchildren, Robert, Martin Jr., Renay, Melanie and Jay; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bobby (Betty) Romero and Joey Romero. He is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carmen Romero, three brothers and six sisters.
At 17, after attending school in Hayden, AZ, Guillermo joined the Army and was proud to have served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. In February of 2003, he retired just shy of completing 40 years with Kennecott/Asarco; ending his career as a metallurgist.
Through his life, Guillermo always wanted to give back to the community. He coached Little League for many years, taking the team to All-Stars a few times. He was Treasurer for the Mammoth Fire Department along with helping others join the department. Being a life-long member of the San Pedro Valley Lions Club was a true passion for him. He recognized the many ways the club could help the community such as providing eye exams and glasses, scholarships for the students, and coordinating fundraising events such as Turkey Shoots and Bingo. He served as president of the SPVLC for several years, but his favorite job was that of Bingo Caller.
Guillermo loved his wife and family very much with a special place in his heart for his grandkids and great-grandkids.
