A group of pilots, students and flight instructors from Superior Soaring glided into the Kearny Airport last week for a visit to the local airstrip. Dan Radcliffe and Doug Riggins from the Kearny Municipal Airport were on hand to greet them. ‘We hope to build a relationship with those at Kearny Municipal Airport,’ said James Gomez, a flight instructor with Superior Soaring, ‘to utilize their airport for aerotowing gliders to supplement out ground launching glider program.’ Gomez added, ‘We’d love to offer rides for those interested in the joy of flying gliders and potentially offering aviation programs for the youth in Kearny.’ Pictured from left are Taj Raven (student from Canada), Gomez, James Fallon (pilot and soon-to-be instructor), Jennifer Rivera (student from Arizona), Trenton McCleary (airplane pilot working towards a glider rating), Radcliffe and Riggins.
