(Globe, AZ –) Now is the time to volunteer with CASA of Gila County. The CASA of Gila County Program is hosting a special recruiting event on Feb. 15, 2025.

Join us at the Globe Public Library at 10 a.m. as we tell you why we love the CASA of Gila County Program! Local CASA Coordinator, Emily Nader will be joined by Globe CASA Volunteers for an opportunity to answer your questions about what it means to serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

“We know there are several misconceptions of what it means to be a CASA volunteer,” commented Coordinator Emily Nader. “We are providing this opportunity to educate the community on why they should volunteer in this unique role.”

CASA volunteers provide support and advocacy for children who are either in licensed foster home, group homes, or in the care of relatives. Volunteers receive free in-depth training and ongoing one-on-one support from a local coordinator. At this time, there are over 40 children from the southern area of Gila County who would benefit from having a CASA appointed to them, but we need additional volunteers.

“This has been a great and amazing experience. I think I will continue with CASA for years to come,” said one CASA in Gila County regarding their personal experience in Gila County.

No special background or education is required to become a CASA volunteer, a caring and generous group that represents a wide range of cultures and professions, educational and ethnic backgrounds. Once accepted into the program, CASA volunteers receive all necessary training. CASA volunteers must be at least 21 years old and willing to complete necessary background checks, provide references and participate in an interview. While serving as a child’s CASA volunteer, you will receive ongoing support and assistance from a local CASA Coordinator.

“Our CASA has been a wonderful advocate for the child. She has gone above and beyond with her care, concern, and kindness. She is consistent with her visits and generous with her time. As caregivers, we are so very grateful for the CASA and the CASA program,” states one child’s caregiver.
