Edward Valenzuela

Edward Valenzuela was born on April 4, 1940, in Globe, AZ, to Isabel and Edward Valenzuela. He passed away at the age of 85 on Aug. 14, 2025. He grew up with three brothers and two sisters.

An outstanding athlete in high school, he played running back for the football team and set a record in the 4×400 m relay in track.

During this time, Edward was also pursuing Vivian, a member of the pom-pom team. Their affection blossomed—he was 18, and she was 16. When Edward asked Vivian’s mother for her hand in marriage, she requested they wait until Vivian turned 18. Respecting her wishes, they married the day after Vivian’s birthday, on Dec. 3. Their marriage lasted 51 years, until Vivian’s passing.

After starting his career as a Laborer Carpenter, Edward advanced his education and became an Electrical Engineer. This led him to a teaching position at CAC, where he educated many students in electrical work and maintained lasting relationships with them. Edward’s influence extended beyond his students—he built many friendships in his community and took pride in serving as president of the IBEW, referring to his friends as his IBEW brothers.

Besides his professional life, Edward was a self-taught golfer and, above all else, a dedicated family man who was always present for his loved ones.

He is survived by his daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Daniel Zazueta, daughter Virginia Valenzuela, son Edward, daughter-in-law Esther Valenzuela, and son-in-law Larry Clark, husband of his late daughter Regina Clark. He is also remembered by his many grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
