Diana Sue Sanders Coons
Diana Sue Sanders Coons (Sue), 82, died Dec. 27, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by her devoted family, just nine days after the death of her loving husband Bob. She was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Safford, Arizona, to Donald and Donetta Sanders.
Sue was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She married Bob Coons in the Mesa Temple in 1964, and they were inseparable sweethearts for 61 years. They lived most of their lives in Arizona and briefly in Nevada and Utah. Bob and Sue raised four children who adored and respected their parents tremendously.
Sue was universally loved and admired by everyone who met her. She was always more concerned about others than herself, and was a kind, sweet, thoughtful angel on earth. If you were lucky enough to spend time with her, you know she was genuinely present and interested in you. She always saw the best in others and was accepting and nonjudgmental.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, Sue never started a restaurant. Everything that came out of her kitchen was simply amazing. Family, friends, and neighbors will never forget her homemade Grandma tacos, enchiladas, tamales, cinnamon rolls, and other culinary delights, because she shared with everyone. In addition to being a nurturing homemaker, she spent many years working as a receptionist, bookkeeper, and graphic designer for local businesses and newspapers.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and son-in-law, Carl Yeck. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Sandy (Mary Ann) Sanders of Nampa, ID; brother, Shane (Sheryl) Sanders of Pomerene, AZ; brother, Dane (Lola) Sanders of Ninnekah, OK; daughter, Cody Yeck of Lehi, UT; daughter, Tracy (Denby) Cluff of Cedar Hills, UT; son, Todd (Loreen) Coons of Gilbert, AZ; daughter ,Kelly (Mark) Martin of Pomerene, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Joint services for Sue and Bob were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, in Benson. Interment followed at Pomerene Cemetery.
