Fall sports is usually all about the boys – “Boys of Fall” and “Friday Night Lights.”

  But the girls work just as hard as their counterparts, playing twice as many games.

  This year, our Copper Corridor teams are gearing up for the 2024 season. Here is a rundown of their preparations:

Hayden Lady Lobos

  The Hayden High School girls varsity volleyball team is preparing to start their busy 2024 season.

  The team will be lead by head coach Marisa Gallego.

  The first game for the Lady Lobos will be on Aug. 28 at home against Dishchii’bikoh, starting at 6 p.m. The rest of the season currently goes as follows: Sept. 6 vs Bagdad (home), Sept. 7 vs Patagonia Union (home), Sept. 10 vs Miami (home), Sept. 12 at Superior, Sept. 17 at Dishchii’bikoh, Sept. 19 at Ray, Sept. 23 vs Valley Lutheran (home), Sept. 24 at Fort Thomas, Sept.  26 vs San Manuel (home), Oct. 1 at San Manuel, Oct. 3 vs Superior (home), Oct. 8 at Valley Lutheran, Oct. 10 at Cicero Prep, Oct. 15 vs Ray (home), Oct. 16 at ASDB, and Oct. 22 vs Duncan (home).

Ray Lady Bearcats

  The Ray varsity volleyball team has been preparing on the court to begin their 2024 season, with head coach Vanessa Camacho leading them.

  The Lady ‘Cats will start their season on Aug. 29 with a home game against Dishchii’bikoh, starting at 6 p.m. The Lady ‘Cats’ season is scheduled to go as follows: Sept. 3 vs Globe (home), Sept. 5 at San Tan Foothills, Sept. 10 vs Duncan (home), Sept. 12 at Mogollon, Sept. 17 at San Manuel, Sept. 19 vs Hayden (home), Sept. 21 at Patagonia Union, Sept. 23 vs San Simon (home), Sept. 24 at Desert Heights Prep, Sept. 26 at Superior, Oct. 1 at Duncan, Oct. 3 vs Cicero Prep (home), Oct. 8 vs San Manuel (home), Oct. 15 at Hayden, Oct. 17 vs Superior (home), Oct. 22 vs Fort Thomas (home), and Oct. 24 at Valley Lutheran. The Lady ‘Cats will participate in two tournaments. On Sept. 7, the team will travel to the Valley to play in the Small School Invite, hosted by Horizon Honors. The games will be played at the Aspire Volleyball Gym, Chandler Preparatory Academy, Glendale Preparatory Academy and the San Tan Charter High School. On Sept. 13 and 14, the team will travel to Mogollon High School to compete in the Mogollon Invitational.

San Manuel Lady Miners

  The San Manuel varsity volleyball team is preparing for their 2024 season on the court.

  Leading the team will be head coach Cynthia Stratton, with assistance from Phillip Sapasap.

  The Lady Miners will begin their season on Sept. 4 with an away game at Patagonia Union. The season is currently scheduled as follows: Sept. 5 at Duncan, Sept. 10 at ASDB, Sept. 12 vs Fort Thomas (home), Sept. 17 vs Ray (home), Sept. 19 vs Superior (home), Sept. 26 at Hayden, Oct. 1 vs Hayden (home), Oct. 3 at Valley Lutheran, Oct. 8 at Ray, Oct. 10 vs Duncan (home), Oct. 15 at Fort Thomas, Oct. 17 vs Cicero Prep (home), Oct. 22 at Superior, Oct. 29 at The Gregory School, and Oct. 30 vs Valley Union (home).

Superior Lady Panthers

  The Lady Panthers of the Superior varsity volleyball team will be starting their 2024 season at the beginning of September with Sonia Estatico as head coach.

  The Lady Panthers first competition of the season will be participating in the Small School Invite on Sept. 7. Hosted by Horizon Honors, the games will be played at the Aspire Volleyball Gym, Chandler Preparatory Academy, Glendale Preparatory Academy and the San Tan Charter High School.
