It was a busy week for the Copper Corridor basketball teams as they gear up for the holidays and the holiday tournaments.
Hayden
The Lady Lobos were busy on the court last week. They kicked off their week with an away game at San Manuel. This would be the second time the girls met up with the Lady Miners, and once again they were able to claim the win. The final score of the game was 48-32.
The next day the Lady Lobos hosted Cicero Prep. The Lady Lobos struggled to keep Cicero out of the hoop. The game ended with a final score of 24-47, making it a tough loss for the girls.
The following day the Lady Lobos traveled to compete in the Eastern Arizona College Holiday Basketball Invitational. Their results for the tournament were: 7-51 loss to Pima, 20-52 loss to St. David, 9-37 loss to Duncan,13-29 loss to Safford.
The boys team started last week the same as the girls, traveling to San Manuel to take on the Miners. Once again, the Lobos were able to best the Miners. The final score of the game was 68-35.
The following day, the boys hosted Cicero Prep. The boys once again kept control, and claimed the victory for the night, with a final score of 59-29.
Closing out their week, the boys competed in Eastern Arizona Holiday Basketball Invitational. The Lobos results for that tournament were: 32-70 loss to Pima, 51-45 win over Sahuarita, 46-70 loss to Thatcher, and a 53-51 win over Morenci.
Both teams will continue their season after the holidays. With the boys competing in Epic Tourneys New Year Classic on Jan. 2 and 3. Both teams will travel to Fort Thomas on Jan. 6 to resume their regular season.
Ray
The Lady ‘Cats started last week with an away game at Superior. The girls did a good job at keeping the Lady Panthers out of the hoop. The final score of their game was 43-15, making it a Lady ‘Cat victory.
The girls closed out their week with a home game against Dishchii’bikoh. The girls struggled to get control of the ball, and keep the Lady Wildcats out of the hoop. The game ended with a rough loss for the girls, with a final score of 18-62.
The Bearcats kept it light on the court this past week, only competing in the away game at Superior. It was a high scoring game, and in the end the Bearcats were able to come out on top. The final score of the game was a close 70-66. Seth Wade lead the team with 25 points, followed by Chase Chester with 20 points, James Fuerstenberg with 14 points, Logan Rice had 6 points, Asher Warren had 3 points, and RJ Nunez had 2 points.
Both teams will take the holidays off, then will start 2026 competing in Epic Tourneys New Years Classic on Jan. 2 and 3.
San Manuel
The Lady Miners kept to their home court last week, starting with a game against Hayden, their second time seeing them on the court this season. The Lady Miners played a tough game, but unfortunately suffered a 32-48 loss.
The girls closed out their week by taking on Valley Lutheran. The girls played a closer game, and in the end only lost by 3 points. The final score of the game was 29-32.
The Miners met up with Hayden to start their week. The boys had a hard time keeping the Lobos out of the net. It was a tough loss for the Miners, with a final score of 35-68.
The boys also closed out their week hosting the Valley Lutheran Flames. The Miners once again had a hard time keeping the ball out of Valley Lutheran hands, resulting in another tough loss for the boys. The final score of the game sat at 25-65.
Both the boys and girls will take a break for the holidays, and will resume their season on Jan. 9, with an away game at St. Augustine.
Superior
The Lady Panthers started out last week with an away game at Fort Thomas. The girls had a rough first half of the game giving up 47 points and only scoring 8 points. Coming out into the second half, the girls were able to pull 6 points, but gave up 13. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Panther struggled to keep the ball away from Fort Thomas. The final score of the game was a tough 14-75.
The following day, the girls closed out their week with a home game against Ray. Once again, the girls struggled to keep up with their opponent. The Lady Panthers scored 15 points in the end, and Ray scored 43 points.
The boys basketball team also started last week competing at Fort Thomas. The Panthers had a hard time keeping up with the Apaches. The final score of the game was a tough 34-87.
The Panthers closed out their week with a home game against Ray. The boys put up a fight, but were unable to close the 4 point score gap in the end. The final score of the game sat at 66-70, making it a tough loss for the Panthers.
Both teams will be taking a break for the holidays, and will resume their seasons with a home game against Duncan on Jan. 6.
