The Copper Corridor high school softball and baseball teams are in full swing, and had another week full of games, and tournaments.

Superior Panthers

  For the Superior softball team, last week was one of their lighter weeks. The Lady Panthers traveled to Duncan at the beginning of last week. The girls put up a fight, and did not hold back against the Wildkats. The game ended with a Lady Panther victory and a final score of 12-1.

  The Superior baseball team also kept it light last week with an away game against Duncan. The Panthers kept control the entire game, only giving up 3 runs during the seventh inning. The final score of the game was 7-3, making it a Panther victory.

  The baseball team played Williams on Monday, March 17, at Hayden. Both baseball and softball teams hosted Miami on March 18. Information on these games was unavailable at press time.

San Manuel Miners

  It was a light time on the diamond for the San Manuel softball team as well, last week. The Lady Miners met up with San Miguel in Tucson. The girls started off the game scoring 14 runs in the first inning. By the fourth inning, the final score was already set. The game concluded with a Lady Miner win and a final score of 33-3.

  The girls were scheduled to compete in the West Valley Invitational Tournament, but no results for the Lady Miners have been posted.

  The Miner baseball team came out swinging in an effort to recoup their previous loss against Bisbee. The Miners played against San Miguel last week at Kino Sports Complex. It was an all around good evening for the San Manuel teams. The boys claimed the win over the Vipers, with a 25-0 final score.

  The Miners traveled to St. Augustine on March 18. Results of this game were unavailable. The Lady Miners have no scheduled games for this week.

Ray Bearcats

  It was busy and eventful last week for the Ray softball team, who started off their week with a home game against Hayden. The Lady ‘Cats struggled to get runs on the scoreboard, resulting in a 3-6 loss. The following day, they hosted San Tan Foothills and flipped it around, the girls claimed a big win of 19-4.

  The girls ended their week, competing in the West Valley Invitational. Day one was a bit of a shaky start, with two losses, 1-14 against Bisbee, and 1-13 against Round Valley.

  The girls resumed playing on day three of the tournament. The girls played against Dysart, and claimed a 13-2 victory, followed by a 14-11 victory over ALA- Anthem South.

  The Lady ‘Cats were able to claim the win of the Bronze Bracket.

  It was also a busy week for the Bearcats baseball team. The boys started last week off with a home game against Hayden, which resulted in a 4-18 loss. The following day, the boys hosted San Tan Foothills, and claimed a big win of 21-8.

  The boys closed out their week, competing in the Bisbee High School Pumas Baseball Tournament at Historic Warren Park. During their first day of competition, the Bearcats took on San Miguel, and claimed a 5-3 win. Later that day they took on Tombstone, claiming the win by 5-2.

  The following day, the boys took on tournament hosts Bisbee. The boys pulled a close win out of their hats with a final score of 8-7. On the last day of the tournament the Bearcats faced off against Willcox, and claimed a 10-2 victory.

  The Bearcats went undefeated for the tournament.

  The Bearcats and the Lady ‘Cats were on the road again Tuesday with a game against Anthem Prep. Results were unavailable at press time.

Hayden Lobos

  The Lady Lobos softball team kept busy last week. They started their week with an away game at Ray, where they claimed a 6-3 win. The girls hosted Fort Thomas later in the week, winning with a final score of 16-6.

  The Lady Lobos closed out their week by competing in the St. Augustine Wolfpack Championship. The girls suffered a 7-9 loss against Leading Edge Academy of Gilbert. The girls also claimed a close 6-5 victory over Chandler Prep.

  The Lady Lobos placed as the runner-ups for the tournament. Lady Lobos Ariana Arbizo, Yvana Waddell, and Trinity Collier were named to the All Tournament Team.

  It was a light time on the field for the Hayden baseball team last week. The boys played against Ray at the beginning of the week. The Lobos kept control the entire game, and were able to finish it with a win in their hands. The final score of the game was 18-4. The Lobos were also scheduled to play against Williams, but the game had to be rescheduled due to the weather.

  The Lady Lobos were on the road Monday to play San Simon. The Lobos hosted Williams Monday. Results from those games were unavailable at press time.
