Did you know that the Hayden Library hosts cooking classes? Once a month the library staff hosts a class on how to make simple, quick, delicious, and nutritious meals.
Last week, my family and I attended and they taught us how to make a yummy Turkey Vegetable Chili. The dish had a variety of vegetables, some that are not typical to traditional chili, including zucchini and carrots.
“We got the recipe from a diabetic cookbook,” Bea Bejarano, Head Librarian advised. After going over all the ingredients and instructions, Jamie Wolgast, librarian, stated “We decided to put it in the pressure cooker so it cooks quicker than the recipe calls for.”
The entire meal took less than 30 minutes to complete.
After the class and food was finished, we all gathered around the libraries tables and ate the meal that was made together, even sharing with some local high school students who came in to work on a school project.
Everything to make this dish was provided by the Hayden Library.
Both fun and educational, this was a class my family really enjoyed, and we are excited to attend next month’s class, which will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. They will be making Avocado Chicken Salad.
For more information on this class or other classes being held, please contact the Hayden Library at (928) 200-2997 or stop in and ask for a calendar of their upcoming events! Classes are open to anyone in the Copper Corridor.
