On Saturday, July 26, the Tri-Community came out for a cornhole tournament that was for a good cause. The tournament was a medical fundraiser for 6-year-old August Acedo, a local boy in need of serious medical surgery to keep his kidney. August and his parents Marissa Reyes and Rudy Acedo have been on quite the journey, and the community came out in support.

“We were hoping doing this here (at El Rancho Robles), we would bring the community together, so they could know our story, because I’m from the community. It’s been amazing, we’ve met a lot of amazing people.” commented mother Marissa Reyes.

“We never truly got therapy for our son’s condition, and you know, being around the community and the people we grew up with in town, is definitely a therapy in itself. We would definitely like to thank all of our sponsors and all of the community who’s come out to support,” added father Rudy Acedo.

There was a table full of raffle prizes, awards for the winners of the cornhole tournament. Tacos Rico, Big Sexy Wangs and Thangs, and Purple Devil Donuts were in attendance serving food. The sponsors were Oracle Land and Homes, I’d Smoke That BBQ, Durazzo Construction, Keller Williams’ Tanya Reddish and Sarah Belknap, and venue host El Rancho Robles. Chris Cruz was in charge of running the cornhole tournament.

“It’s a pleasure to give back to the community, especially a local family, a great kid,  and a great cause,” commented El Rancho Robles Director of Events Corrie Majalca.

Seeing the amount of support is one of the reminders of the significance a tight community that looks out for its families can have.
