The Good Shepherd Christmas Store event is this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church at the bottom of school hill.
“We goofed,” said Carol Hosler, event coordinator. “We had initially seen the sale as something of a fund raiser for Good Shepherd – in addition to providing a venue for peoples’ flea market sales and affordable Christmas gifts to striking miners.”
“But community response to that idea wasn’t great,” she added. “We just didn’t get as many sellers as we’d hoped. So we have changed the event guidelines in hopes of making this a great shopping opportunity.”
According to Hosler there now will be no space rental fees and at the end of the day sellers’ contributions to Good Shepherd will be entirely voluntary. Additionally, whether sellers provide a discount to striking miners is entirely up to them as they negotiate their prices directly with buyers. Sellers may include baked goods if they wish.

The sale will open on Saturday at 9 a.m., leaving time for sellers to set up their booths. (Set-up begins at 7 a.m.) Items expected include porcelain dolls, various quilted items, wood crafts including carved walking sticks, etched glass objects, Christmas decorations and cars! Yes, to date there are two cars to be sold by their owners. There will also be a quilt raffle.
