Carmen A Vender

  Carmen A. Vender, 91, of Oro Valley, passed away in Tucson due to natural causes on Dec. 20, 2025. She was born Aug. 7, 1934, to Alberto and Aggie Acosta.

  Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Aggie Acosta; husband, Raul (Ruly) M. Vender; son, Raul D. Vender; and brothers, Alberto and Rafiel Acosta.

  She is survived by children, Gustavo (Marcheta) Vender, Diane (Tom) Martinez, Rick (Marti) Vender and Lucy (Richard) Finch; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind brothers, Alex and Frank Acosta; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

  Carmen graduated from Superior High School in 1953 and thereafter had some training as a nurse. She was employed at Mammoth Elementary School and the Department of Economic Security.

  When Ruly was alive, they would play pinochle with Chuy and Nena Becerra nearly every payday Saturday night. After her beloved Ruly died, Carmen took up playing bingo. She was a beautiful singer, often performing at weddings and for the Mammoth Fiestas. Carmen loved watching the Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns.

  Services for Carmen Vender will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located on Church Dr, in Mammoth on Friday, Jan. 9, with a viewing at 10 a.m., Rosary at 11 a.m. and Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Valley View Cemetery in Mammoth will follow.
