If you’re a fan of local music, then there is a good chance that you might have seen or even heard of the band Beyond Your Reach. The band is composed of brothers Alex, Nicolas, and Gabriel. Formerly known as The V-Knights, the brothers recently decided to take on the name Beyond Your Reach, wanting to try something new.
“So, we grew up playing music as The V-Knights, from a young age, probably from around 2008 to 2013 we played all over Chandler as a blues band, then we took a break, and then came back as The V-Knights,” commented guitarist Gabriel.
“We’ve been playing music forever,” added drummer/vocalist Alex, “all our lives. Just recently, a couple years ago, we started making rock n’ roll.”
Last year, the brothers performed inside of a Basha’s as part of a water drive fundraiser during the summer and were on TV during it. It is considered one of their most memorable performances they have been fortunate enough to do. Beyond Your Reach is currently in the semi-finals round of Alice Cooper’s Proof Is In The Pudding Contest. The show was televised Nov. 5 in Goodyear. The band is tasked with playing a Christmas song and an original. The band has high hopes to make it into the finals.
When asked what music means to the brothers, they responded:
“I’d say is inspiration for others,” began Alex, “We’ve played a lot of shows, and we see that music is a universal language and it just helps people. It’s deep rooted in psychology and it has a unique power to help people, that’s my purpose for music.”
Gabriel added, “Music is like an extension of the soul as I see it. What you can’t put into words you can express in music. It can have a very deep meaning.”
“I couldn’t imagine life without music,” commented Nicolas, “It means the world to me.”
Beyond Your Reach will also be performing at The Nile Theater in Mesa on Friday, Nov. 15, if you want to come hear the trio of brothers rock out. They also have plans to record some new music in the coming future.
