Betty Van Winkle
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Van Winkle, 88, who passed away in Tucson due to a fall on Aug. 17, 2025. Betty was born in Florence. She and her siblings (seven in all) grew up on a cotton farm in Florence, with her parents, Tom and Jessie (Articia) Rankin.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Winkle, her parents, Tom and Jessie (Articia) Rankin and her siblings.
She is survived by her children, John Van Winkle (Dale) of Florence, Pat Thielen (Mike) of Gilbert, Linda Williams (Bob) of San Diego, CA, Rocky Van Winkle (Karen) of Oracle, eight grandchildren, and many, many great-grandchildren
Betty graduated high school. She lived in Oracle since 1964 with her husband, Raymond. They lived in Germany while Raymond served in the military and then moved to Oracle where she worked at Pat and Mike’s.
For the past 10 months, Betty was living at the Ranch Estates in Tucson and made many new friends there. She loved playing Bingo and listening to music every Wednesday afternoon. One of her favorite things to do was going to the ice cream social.
Services for Betty Winkle will be held at Oracle Union Church, located at 705 E. American Avenue in Oracle (85623) on Saturday, Sept. 13, starting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Oracle Cemetery.
