The southwest sunlight is the great unifier in Robert Cao-Ba’s paintings, collecting natural elements into a luminous whole.
Born in the coastal city of Casablanca, Morocco, Cao-Ba, a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston, has embraced the desert and heritage of Arizona. Visits to rodeos, ranches and a particularly memorable round up in Wickenburg, give him subject matter and inspiration.
His new series highlights Oracle’s grasslands, boulders and clouds.
“The light is always changing how I see,” he said.
The proceeds from the sale of two of these paintings will be donated to Oracle State Park and Oracle Center for the Arts, respectively.
Light is also a subject in Pama Peckham Cao-Ba’s scenes of everyday life as it colors fleeting poses and unconscious gestures. The transient nature of our experiences forms the vignettes of her narrative art.
Peckham Cao-Ba has exhibited in venues in Arizona and California, including Mesa Arts Center and San Diego Art Institute – Museum of the Living Artist’s International Award Exhibitions.
