Anthony Martinez Ramos

  Anthony “Tony” Martinez Ramos, 75, passed away Nov. 15, 2024, in Oracle due to health issues. He was born on May 17, 1949.

   Anthony is survived by his siblings, Joe (Sharron) Ramos Sr., Loli (Armando) Medina, Becky (Alfred) Bayze, Eddie (Tracey) Ramos, Bobby Ramos, Patsy (Manuel) Miranda and Rudy (Alma) Verdugo; daughter, Monique; sons, Jason (Virginia), Tony Jr., Samuel and Erik (Danella); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tony graduated Hayden High School in 1968. He worked at Asarco and retired to Hayden. Tony loved hunting and fishing. He lived a full and proud life. He was a hardworking man who gave his best to the copper mines, the community, his family, friends and neighbors.

   Tony was a pillar of the community and respected by many. He volunteered his time with the youth baseball and basketball organizations as a coach and referee. Tony also served as a member of the Hayden-Winkelman Unified School District Governing Board for over 10 years. He was a Hayden Lobo from the days he watched his big brother Joe “Sombo” running Lobo touchdowns and beyond. The last day he sat at Lobo Lane yelling “Go Big Blue.” He was a Hayden Lobo, proud and true.

  Tony was an extraordinary athlete playing baseball, basketball, football and running track in high school. He was proud to be an alumnus of Hayden High School Class of 1968. Tony was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved to spend his time hunting and occasionally fishing. One could contend he loved seeing big bucks more than anything. The truth is he valued his time with those he cared about. His legacy will carry on and stories will be told all over the hills around his beloved little hometown.
Services for Anthony Martinez Ramos will be held at Vistoso Funeral Home, located at 2285 E. Ranch Blvd. in Oro Valley (85755), on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m.
