A single-vehicle accident on the east side of Mount Lemmon has claimed the life of San Manuel resident David McClure, 66.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) Vail District responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on the east side of Mount Lemmon, near coordinates -110.643120, 32.481620.
Upon arrival, deputies located a pickup truck that had gone off the roadway. The sole occupant and driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The PCSD Traffic Unit, Forensics Unit, and Search and Rescue Team also responded to assist with the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the driver was traveling on an Arizona State Land Road when they failed to negotiate a turn, causing the vehicle to go over a cliff and fall approximately 40 feet. Investigators noted the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
There is no indication of suspicious or criminal activity contributing to the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
