Richard E. Alvarado Jr.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard E. Alvarado Jr. after his battle with cancer. He took his last breath peacefully at 1 a.m. on July 12, 2025, after his wife hugged him goodnight. His last days were surrounded by the outpouring love from family and friends at home in Mesa, Arizona.
Richard was born in Globe, Arizona on Oct. 20, 1975. He was raised in Superior and Mesa, Arizona. He is survived by his parents, Richard Alvarado Sr. (Donna) and Angie Denogean; his siblings, Jessie (Abel), Autry (Cara), and Andrea “Kita”; and his loving wife of 17 years, Monique. He also leaves behind his children, Serenity (Missael), Joe (Griselda), Jacob (Jillian), Israel, and Maritza. He was the proud Tata to MJ, Zelda, Mykaela, Atlas, Mila, Enzo, Romeo, and Ezra. Richard will be fondly remembered by many cousins, friends, and the entire community.
If you could describe him in one word it would have to be selfless. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loved. Although he may have looked like a grizzly, he was definitely a teddy bear. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back.
For many years he was a proud member of the United Car Club. Richard will be remembered for his devotion to the lowrider community, his enjoyment of going to the casinos, and most importantly his passion for sales. Whether he was selling cars, tires, or just having a yard sale he was known for his exceptional ability to hustle. He could sell ice to an Eskimo.
Although his life was cut short, his legacy will live on through his kids and grandkids. Richard will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Services will be held at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Saturday, July 26, 2025. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery and a Luncheon will follow at Los Hermanos Ballroom.
