When the Oracle Community Center put out a call for volunteers, the call was answered in spades by some new community members.

Dax Harley, who like many of her new fellow volunteers just moved to Oracle, said she volunteered so she could give back to his community.

Bill Demeroutis is another new volunteer. He works with the SaddleBrooke Rotary Club and was impressed by the board members’ enthusiasm.

Mark Thompson recently retired and moved to Oracle. He lived in Tucson but had visited Oracle many times over the years. He wanted to do something for the community he has fallen in love with.

Ken Maratzke said he saw a parking lot full of cars and decided to check it out.

The board as a whole has expressed that they like to give back to the community and socialize with the community to find and fulfill its needs. The board also expressed that they would like to have more events and programs for families and the rest of the community but they need more volunteers and coordinators.

“You dont have to be a member of the board to volunteer with the Oracle Community Center,” Demeroutis said.

Other members of the board include: Ellie Brown, Steve Chavez, Lorena Candelaria, Laura Stiltner and Elvia Schwenke.
